Our story

Why this platform is necessary

Despite being from completely different backgrounds, the founding members were united in their struggle for a life with integrity, safety and respect. While looking for solutions, they noticed that the issues are systemic and deeply ingrained. This is how the idea for Kansanhuuto was born: to create change that is lasting and impactful.

01 — The pattern

Marginalised, neglected, and structurally excluded people keep arriving at the same place: visible harm, invisible routes to change. The institutions that should respond do not. The gap is not accidental.

02 — The response

Other than being an advocacy and training organisation, Kansanhuuto is also a civic platform designed to enable other organisations and people to communicate, manage, administer, and execute their strategies and plans without relying on funding or the fear of losing their data to foreign companies.

03 — The purpose

Our goal is to build a society where belonging is not based on conditions, accountability is not optional and ordinary people have the tools and platform to have their voice heard and considered.

How we operate

Mission

Amplify unheard voices and turn exclusion into organised pressure. Kansanhuuto exists to create civic participation pathways for people who have been shut out of the systems that shape their lives, and to push institutions toward accountability they would otherwise avoid.

Vision

A world where power is shared instead of hoarded. Where documentation leads to accountability, where community organising is taken as seriously as institutional policy, and where no one has to fight for basic dignity alone.

Kansanhuuto does not support or promote any specific political party or political candidate. However, this doesn't mean that we are centrist or promote all ideologies equally. That independence is structural and permanent.

From our approach to our practices, scientific rigor is a core and integral part of our work. What this means in practice is, that we are happy and willing to change our own ideology when the evidence demands it.

Political & ethical stance

Non-violent civic action

Violence is never the answer. We believe that reducing harm and suffering, whether that be the environment, animals, people or property, is the only way to save our future. We do everything in our power to follow this principle.

Evidence-informed advocacy

Our values are not based on feelings and opinions. We place our trust in and work with experts, professionals and scientists, because we strive for our work to be credible. This stance is non-negotiable.

Coalition over duplication

Millions are spent in Finland and billions in EU for extremely valuable and necessary civic work. As we do not want the tax payer's money to go to waste by duplicating already existing services, we advocate for co-operation between organisations.

Secular and rights-respecting

While the founders do not follow any religion and neither does the organisation, we welcome and support everyone regardless of their faith or background. We firmly believe that rights are universal and dignity belongs to everyone.

Harshwardhan Saini

Building a collective platform that turns lived experience into civic power and structural accountability. A cognitive neuropsychologist and Greens trust person in Espoo, focused on evidence-based, justice-oriented public impact.

Pardeep Rathore

Responsible for financial stewardship, compliance, and organisational oversight. Also serves as Executive Director at United Vision, bringing operational leadership and multilingual community-facing experience.

With a deep care for transparency and good governance, she coordinates documentation, meeting records, and internal processes to keep the organisation transparent and functional.

Board & structure

How Kansanhuuto is organised

A registered association (ry), with governance designed to keep the mission collective, accountable, and capable of growing without collapsing into personality-driven decision-making.

Highest authority

General Assembly

The General Assembly is the highest decision-making body and anchors legitimacy in the membership base. All full members participate and hold the board accountable.

Stewardship

Board

The board oversees strategy, finances, governance, and the overall direction of the organisation between General Assemblies.

Execution

Working groups

In working groups, the staff, interns and volunteers plan and execute projects, which they report to the board for oversight management and approval.

Project-based collaborators and aligned partners expand reach without diluting responsibility or public clarity about who Kansanhuuto is and what it stands for.
